A new documentary follows courageous patients with Stage IV cancer as they become pioneers in a revolutionary approach to their disease

World Premiere: CBC’s The Nature of Things
    Thursday February 23, 2017 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NL)

Six years ago Zuri Scrivens, the mother of a toddler, was very ill with incurable breast cancer that had spread to her liver and lymph nodes. Today Zuri has no signs of cancer, not because of a miraculous new cancer drug, but thanks to a diabetes medication.

Zuri’s remarkable story of recovery is part of the intimate new documentary CRACKING CANCER, for CBC’s The Nature of Things. With exclusive and rare access, the film follows a group of patients, all with incurable cancer, through a highly experimental clinical trial at the BC Cancer Agency in Vancouver, a trial that holds the promise of personalized cancer diagnosis and treatment.
