Marriage Modernized
What’s new in one of our oldest institutions? Lots!
For the first time in Canadian history, there are more single people than those who are married. Is this a society-changing tipping point? Some think so – and proponents of marriage are rallying to save the institution others have just assumed will exist forever.
But what is marriage about in this day and age? Turns out the stories of the creative things people are doing to stay married in today’s crazy world just get more and more interesting. For example, meeting Samantha and Steph was both mesmerizing and thoroughly confounding. How do you stay committed and “open” at the same time?
And then there was Helen Fisher and the whole brain scan tidbit and voilà , the story just got stranger and stranger. We started realizing that marriage is going in some very interesting directions indeed.
Airs Thursday, January 20th on CBC Doc Zone – 9pm ET /PT and 9:30 NT

Looks very interesting. I will make a point of watching the entire film on Jan. 20th. Maybe you should do a follow up film on the wedding industry in general and why some of us still cherish our vows. I’d love to be involved it that!

You have got my interest with the promo. Looking forward to what appears to be an ‘hour well spent’ enoying the film. Thanks.
